Our school uniform is a wonderful way for children to feel connected to our community. Looking smart together encourages a sense of pride and helps everyone arrive at school feeling ready, focused, and excited to learn.
A school uniform helps promote a sense of belonging and community. Please ensure all clothing and property is labelled with your child’s name. Our PCA has a pre-loved uniform clothing rail in the school reception foyer. We encourage parents/carers to make use of this facility. In line with Government regulations we have three “branded” uniform items and a number of “non-branded” uniform items that are all available to purchase from Penn UK, Benfleet, SS7 5PN (https://pennuk.com/product-category/schools/schools-kents-hill-infants-school/). Items with our school logo are not essential and plain non-branded uniform items are more than welcome.
Our school uniform consists of:
- Shirts or blouses – white (long or short-sleeved)
- Trousers – grey
- Polo shirts – white
- Shorts – grey
- Ties – purple
- Skirts/Pinafores – grey
- Socks – white/grey/black
- Wool Jumpers/Cardigans – purple with or without school logo
- Tights – purple/grey
- Summer dresses – purple
- Shoes – black (Please remember – no designer wear, trainers or boots)
- Gingham – purple/white (Short-sleeved, simple style)
Physical Education (P.E.) Uniform
Our school uniform includes clothing required for physical education. We have adopted a comfortable PE uniform which should enhance the children’s participation and enjoyment of the sport and physical activity.
Our PE uniform consists of:
- Shorts – purple
- Tracksuit Bottoms – black
- T-shirt – white
- PE Sweatshirt – Purple (with/without school logo)
- Plimsolls – dark coloured (Velcro or gusseted)
When swimming in the summer term of Year 2, children should wear a one-piece swimming costume/swimming trunks and a swimming cap. (Caps can be ordered and paid for via ARBOR). Wearing swimming caps is a requirement for us when using the pool we hire.
Children cannot wear earrings for any P.E. activity, and these must be removed at home before coming to school. Staff in the school will not take out or put in earrings for children, and tape cannot be used as an alternative to removal.
Hair and hair accessories/adornments
Hair styles for children should be simple and easily managed. Extremes of styles or colours are not permitted. The school requests that the children do not have their hair coloured or shaved in elaborate styles. In the interest of hygiene and safety, long hair should be worn tied back. Hair ornaments should be school colours, plain and simple. Large combs, slides, bobbles, clips and fashion braids can be dangerous, distract children from their learning and must not be worn.
Jewellery, Watches and Hairstyles
Occasionally, pupils wear personal items to school which constitute a health and safety hazard. The following recommendations are in line with Essex County Council and School Health and Safety Policy and the Safe Practise in Physical Education document. They reflect our commitment to the safety of all our school children. The wearing of jewellery is not allowed with the exception of: one pair of small, plain, stud-type earrings in the ear lobe (no larger earrings or hoops, etc. are allowed). The wearing of necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. is not permitted. The only exception is allergy and medical alert bracelets. A small, simple watch may be worn so long as it is not set to make noises. Neither the school nor its staff are responsible for any loss, theft or damage to any of these articles.
