Our Simple Application Process
We encourage all prospective families to visit our welcoming school. When you join Kents Hill Infants, you become part of the Kents Hill family!
SCHOOL ADMISSIONS
Reception Admissions
Starting school in September (beginning of the Academic Year)
Essex County Council coordinates the initial admission for your child’s school learning journey at Kents Hill Infant Academy.
Essex County Council admissions team can be contacted on 0345 603 2200.
Applications must be completed online at www.essex.gov.uk
The number to admit is 60.
In the event of oversubscription, places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:
- looked after children and previously looked after children (as hereinafter defined*)
- children with a sibling attending the school or the partner junior school
- other children living in the priority admissions area
- remaining applications
In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given highest priority as detailed in our Admissions Policy (Click on the button below to download)
(If you apply for your child’s place after the Academic School Year commences your application will be deemed a “Mid-Year Admission”.)
All Mid-Year Admissions for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are dealt with directly through the school (please see below)

If you wish to apply for a place for your child please contact our school office on 01268 792500. Visits to our school are welcome, whether you are inside or outside of our catchment area.

Our Admissions Officers, Mrs Lewis and Mrs Allen-Barrington, will contact you within 10 school days of receiving the Mid-Year Application form to advise whether we have a space in the year group you applied for. We will also write to inform you whether your application has been successful/unsuccessful. If successful, we will invite you and your child for a school tour before starting at Kents Hill Infant Academy and to give you all the information you need prior to joining.
